A four-month platform, delivered in two.

Provide Digital needed an online training platform for the Essex Sexual Health Service, with a release date already set. Our team of three built the admin and learner portals in half the estimated time.

The situation

Training that did not need a classroom.

The Essex Sexual Health Service runs a School Award Scheme, and its training was delivered face to face. That was inefficient for the service and hard to reach for many school staff. Provide Digital, the service’s technology partner, needed an online alternative.

The brief asked for modular training that people could take at any time, videos that could not be skipped, a quiz after each module, learner accounts approved by the service, and reporting by organisation and district that could be exported. It also had to follow NHS information governance, and go live by September.

How it went

From brief to live in two months.

  1. 1

    The brief

A scope document set out the objectives and ranked every requirement from must-have to out of scope.

  2. 2

    The plan

Our estimate came to four months, with a finish around November.

  3. 3

    The build

A team of three built both portals, admin and learner, in two months.

  4. 4

    Live

Two organisations are already using the platform and their learners are taking courses.

What we delivered

What we built.

Learner portal

A dashboard, a course player with videos and quizzes, certificates and a profile.

Admin overview

A view of what needs action: learner approvals, quiet learners and course drop-off.

Learner approvals

Learners request an account and an admin approves it before they start.

Courses and modules

Create, edit, publish and archive courses, with the region each one serves.

Quizzes and certificates

A quiz after each part, progress tracking and a certificates page for every learner.

Reports and export

Quarterly summaries, learner activity and course feedback, with CSV export.

The hard part

A four-month job, done in two.

The client already had a release date planned for 1 September 2026. The original estimate for the platform was four months, which would have meant a finish in November.

Our team took the challenge on and delivered it in two months.

For the people running it

An admin portal that keeps learning moving.

Organisation admins see what needs action, manage courses and modules, and report on learner activity. Screens are blurred.
